It’s no secret that Pacific Regent residents are big museum buffs… On average, we hit one museum a month. This month, our calendar took us to the brand new Nordic Heritage Museum in the Ballard neighborhood of downtown Seattle. With the growing accessibility and ease of research in ancestry and DNA testing these days, everyone is finding out their heritage… and many of us are finding out that we have more nationalities in us than we thought! The Nordic Museum celebrates the history of nations such as Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, etc. with original pieces of clothing, machinery, and art displayed proudly. We also were surprised to see one of our very own residents on an in-service video! Per Bolang is a long-time member of the Nordic Museum dating back to when it first opened in the 1960s. He and his late wife continue to support the efforts of keeping Nordic history alive and thriving. Since Per was born in Sweden and has the extensive history with the museum, he was interviewed by the Nordic Heritage production team for one of their in-house videos that patrons can sit and watch – it was about the hard-work ethic and tenacity that comes from having a Nordic background. What a cool experience!! We already can’t wait to return!
